Meet Lena
Growing up in New Brunswick, Lena was always passionate about sketching and drawing. With a family deeply involved in renovating century-old homes and building new ones, Lena's design journey began early. Designing floor plans for a new home at just 13 years old, Lena discovered a love for home design. This passion was further nurtured in high school with the introduction to AutoCAD, cementing her desire to help people create their dream homes.
In 2000, Lena moved to Calgary and began working as an Architectural Technologist for numerous builders and architectural firms. This experience laid a strong foundation in architectural design and construction management.
In 2007, Lena founded Lar Designs with the intention of creating unique, one-off houses through word of mouth. What began as a side project evolved over the years, and in 2022, Lena took the business full-time, focusing entirely on designing new homes, renovations, and additions in Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan.
In addition to running Lar Designs, Lena works with local builders, assisting them with product development and production needs. Her industry expertise ensures that these collaborations result in innovative and high-quality homes.
Lena is also an instructor at the Professional Home Builders Institute, where she shares her knowledge and passion for home design with the next generation of builders and designers.
Throughout her career, Lena has consistently pursued professional development, earning certifications in Moisture Control, Energy Efficiency, and Air Tightness. Most recently, she completed the Revit Essentials Certificate, staying at the forefront of industry technology and practices.

Meet Carlos
Carlos brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our team, having been a cornerstone in the construction industry for many years. His career began as a Construction Supervisor, where he honed his skills in quality assurance and estimation. He then moved into the role of Interior Construction Supervisor for multi-family projects, where he ensured the seamless execution of complex builds.
Carlos expanded his expertise as a Home Inspector, providing critical insights into property conditions. His role as a Technical Sales Specialist in insulation and roofing further showcased his versatility and in-depth knowledge of construction materials and techniques.
Beyond his extensive professional experience, Carlos has always had a passion for sketching and drafting. This creative skill has been a driving force throughout his career, influencing his meticulous approach to construction and design.
Skilled in Contract Management, Process Scheduling, Construction Management, Quality Assurance, and Home Inspections, Carlos is a strong engineering professional. He holds a Level 1 Certified Building Investigations certification with a focus on Infrared Thermography from the Infrared Training Center, demonstrating his commitment to leveraging advanced technology in his work.
